Philodendron

Philodendron

Philodendron (phil) are a very popular house plant! They are easy to take care of and bring a nice color in to any space. The Heart Leaf and the Velvet Leaf are the most popular varieties. They like bright, indirect light. If the stems become long and leggy, the plant is not getting enough light and should be moved. The top inch of soil should be dry before you water again. If the leaves on your Phil get droopy, your plant is either getting too much water or not enough water and will perk up when you go back to a regular watering schedule.

Below are the common varieties that we have at Handy Andy’s.

Birdsnest Phil

These various philodendron have a much more compact habit. Unlike the Common heartleaf and its friends these plants tend to “stay put” much better. That means that Birdsnest Phil can make an attractive shrubby plant for any indoor space.
